The Story of Lord Krishna’s Birth
Lord Krishna, one of the most beloved and revered figures in Hinduism, is not just seen as a god, but also as a friend, guide, and protector. His birth story is nothing short of extraordinary, filled with emotion, divine intervention, and a deep sense of destiny.
Krishna was born to Devaki and Vasudev during a dark time when fear ruled over love and power over justice. Devaki was the sister of Kansa, the cruel king of Mathura. On the day of Devaki and Vasudev's wedding, as Kansa was escorting them to their palace, a divine voice (Akashvani) echoed from the heavens. It declared that Devaki's eighth child would be the cause of Kansa’s death.
Blinded by fear and ego, Kansa immediately imprisoned his own sister and brother-in-law. One by one, he killed their first seven children, determined to stop the prophecy from coming true.
But destiny had other plans.
On the night Krishna was born—the eighth child—a series of miracles unfolded. The guards fell into a deep sleep, the prison doors unlocked on their own, and heavy chains slipped away. In the stillness of the night, Vasudev carried the newborn baby across the stormy Yamuna River, protected by divine forces, to the peaceful village of Gokul.
There, he left Krishna safely in the care of Nanda and Yashoda, who raised him with immense love and devotion, unaware of his true origins. Krishna grew up as the heart of Gokul—mischievous, charming, and wise beyond his years. Everyone who met him couldn’t help but be drawn to him.
This is not just a tale of divine birth; it’s a reminder that even in the darkest of times, light finds a way. Lord Krishna’s story inspires faith, courage, and the belief that good will always overcome evil.
